The Plan

Get black business owners to commit at least R100 per month. This money will go to running the campaign, investing in black businesses and creating Buy Black merchandise.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The R100 is a membership fee
  • 30% is earmarked to pay admin for Buy Black work.
  • 30% is funding legal minds to fight relevant cases
  • 20% is for used for marketing (social media, flyers, t-shirts, stickers, etc.)
  • 20% goes to printing Buy Black books
  • Annual financial reports will be distributed with all paying members to detail how money was spent
  • We're currently registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO), registration number: 2018/483354/07
  • As such, membership fees sent are viewed as a donation.
  • Members can request donations tax exemption certificates for their tax returns
  • Members and non-members are welcome to donate any amount they wish.
  • Donors are welcome to request anonymity and this will be given the highest confidentiality
  • Build a legal team to fight on behalf of black businesses
  • Use a Facebook Group to allow black businesses to post their offerings
  • Distribute a Buy Black book to schools, churches & other strategic spaces
  • Use mainstream media to champion our cause
  • Set up a Buy Black sticker for black-made goods, similar to Halaal or Kosher
  • Use workshops to educate black business owners so they may offer better service and products
  • Ensure that BBBEE is being implemented properly
  • Yes. Anyone who shares our vision is welcome to join.
  • The Buy Black Movement is open to people from all races, genders, religions, sexual orientations and nationalities
  • Our focus is to uplift black business so as to ensure more black employees, suppliers and owners
  • Anyone joining the movement must understand that our focus is to keep money circulating in black hands as much as possible
